Challenge #10: "Fabric Scrapbooking"

Good Morning, ladies!

Well, it's the first Monday in June and we're back with challenge #10..."Fabric Scrapbooking"! We were so inspired by Donna Downey's new book, Fabric Scrapbooking, that we couldn't resist...we wanted to get playing with fabric as soon as we could, and of course, we wanted to include all of you, too! (see link in sidebar)

So I'm sure you've already guessed what you have to do for this month's challenge: Include fabric on a scrapbooking layout or project. Yup, it's that simple. Here are our layouts for this month:

"You" by Talia Audenart
(supplies: cardstock: Bazzill; chipboard letters: Doodlebug; die-cut shapes: Making Memories; flower: Heidi Swapp; buttons: Foof-a-la; other: fabric, embroidery floss)

To make the fabric "pop" on this page, I layered 2 pieces of felt underneath my fabric to make it soft and cushy. I simply hand stitched the fabric to my layout using embroidery floss and a sewing needle.

"Girls, Daughters, Friends" by Kim Loewen

(supplies: patterened paper, black precision pen: American Crafts; rick rack, chipboard letters: Doodlebug; jumbo brad, edge distresser, patterned paper, journaling block, chipboard crown, paper flower, foam board letter, ribbon, bling: Heidi Swapp; journaling card, tiny sticker alphabet: Making Memories; letter rub-on: 7gypsies; material, jewels: other)

Dont'cha just love the little flap on Kim's layout? Plus, you can see how she gathered and sewed her strip of fabric across the bottom of her layout. So fun!!

There are so many possibilities with fabric...and now is your chance to show us what you have in mind! You may want to use a sewing machine, you can stitch by hand, maybe you want to create handmade flowers or accents with left-over fabric or felt. So get out your stash of fabric that you've been waiting to use and show us what you got!

Remember to email us your layout (in jpeg format) to thegoodieboxgirls@hotmail.com with your first and last name so we can post it in the Goodie Gallery. Each person can submit up to 2 layouts for this challenge. We can't wait to see what you all create!

Come back next Monday to get a sneak peek of this month's Goodie Box and to see who our sponsor is...so, so cute!! And of course we'll have more inpiration for you then, too!

See you then,
Talia & Kim:)
